Read: Isaiah 35:8-10

It shall be called The way of holiness… it shall be for… wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein (Isaiah 35:8).

The Way For Wayfaring Men

A cultured young man, with a Ph.D. degree, brought an earnest gospel message in a youth rally. After the service a sharp teen-ager remarked to a friend, “If a guy like that believes in religion, it’s O.K. for me.”

Have you ever been tempted to believe that religion is only for sissies? Have you ever felt that holiness was only for the odd-balls?

God has provided a salvation that is suitable for even the abnormal and the eccentric. The way is so clear that fools need not err therein. But the way of holiness was not designed for nitwits.

What a difference is made by a mere punctuation mark! Read our text one way and it sounds as if the road was made for fools: “It shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.” But swap a colon and a comma and see what a difference. “It shall be for those, the wayfaring men: though fools shall not err therein.”

The way of holiness is for wayfaring men. God has planned His best for those who are going somewhere — for men and women who are on the way. I must never hang my head for trying to be the kind of person God wants me to be. With Paul, I square my shoulders. “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth” (Romans 1:16).
